Is La Bionda Begur Worth It?

I booked a quick birthday getaway to Begur, and honestly, La Bionda is the main reason I chose this town in the first place.

If you’re into design-focused boutique hotels like I am, this place absolutely delivers and then some.

It’s definitely one of the best hotels right in the town center, and you can tell so much thought went into every single detail, from the furniture to the lighting to the fixtures and floors.

My room was beautiful, but the massive bathroom with the copper bathtub was pretty much the highlight of my entire stay.

The service also really stood out, with Carla and Lola going above and beyond to make it feel personal and welcoming.

With its perfect location, great à la carte breakfast, and that upscale bed and breakfast feel, I definitely think La Bionda is worth it.

La Bionda Begur Review: Location

La Bionda is located at Carrer de Francesc Forgas, 1 right in the center of Begur’s Old Town, so you’re steps away from shops, restaurants, boutiques, and coffee spots, which I loved.

One of my favorite spots was Fitzroy Café, which is literally right outside the hotel entrance.

It’s important to know that Begur is a hilltop town, so while you can see the coast in the distance, you’re about a 10-minute drive from the beach.

The town itself is very walkable, but if you want to explore nearby beaches and coves like Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Platja Fonda, or Aiguablava, having a rental car will make things much easier.

I didn’t have a car (I took the bus from Barcelona) and felt a bit limited, especially after walking down to Sa Tuna and realizing it’s a pretty intense 50-minute uphill climb on the way back.

But the hotel was super helpful and quickly arranged a taxi for me via WhatsApp to get back.

La Bionda Begur Review: Rooms

The rooms at La Bionda are all named after influential women who stayed here in the early 20th century.

I stayed in the “Valentina” room, named after Valentina Tereshkova (the first female astronaut), and it was honestly one of the most beautiful hotel rooms I’ve stayed in.

The design felt very delicate and romantic, with warm earthy tones and so many thoughtfully curated details, especially the vintage phone, artwork, and sculptural pieces above the bed.

The king-sized bed was incredibly comfortable with plush white linens, and I loved having extras like a flat-screen TV, a Marshall Bluetooth speaker, espresso machine, tea kettle, and a minibar with local drinks.

They also include little touches like a La Bionda beach bag, beach towels, robes, and slippers.

The real highlight, though, is the bathroom. It’s massive, with a copper bathtub, separate rainfall shower, two sinks, and a private toilet room. I was fully obsessed with that tub!

I ended up soaking with my Kindle and a glass of cava, and it was definitely one of my favorite moments of the trip.

The room also has a private terrace with two chairs, which is such a nice spot to relax with a coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening.

La Bionda Begur Review: Dining

La Bionda doesn’t have a full restaurant, but they do offer a complimentary breakfast for hotel guests each morning.

Breakfast is served in the solarium next to the lobby, and there’s a cute outdoor seating area as well.

The menu is à la carte, so you can order exactly what you want. Most items are included but there are a few optional add-ons that have an extra charge.

The menu options include yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, croissants, omelettes, egg dishes, and charcuterie, plus coffee, tea, and juices.

I was really impressed with the quality, especially knowing that a lot of the ingredients are sourced locally and that they even pick up fresh fruit from a nearby grocer each morning.

It felt a lot more thoughtful and elevated than your typical hotel breakfast.

Outside of breakfast, there’s also a small honesty bar setup in the lobby where you can order wine and other drinks throughout the day.

La Bionda Begur Review: Service

The service at La Bionda is really what sets it apart and what makes the whole experience feel a lot more special.

I was greeted warmly by Lola upon arrival, and she already knew my name, which immediately made it feel more personal.

At check-in, they share their WhatsApp number and send you a custom Google Map with their favorite local spots around Begur and the Costa Brava, which I found incredibly helpful.

Lola gave me great recommendations and was super responsive the entire stay, even arranging a taxi for me when I was in Sa Tuna and didn’t want to deal with the uphill walk back.

I also met Carla, the owner, who was just as friendly and gave me some great tips for exploring the town center.

You can tell they genuinely care about their guests and want you to have a great experience. It felt much more like staying at an upscale bed and breakfast than a traditional hotel.

That level of warmth and attention is something you just don’t get at larger properties.

Final Thoughts: La Bionda Begur Review

I hope this La Bionda Begur review has helped you decide if it’s the right place to stay for your Costa Brava trip!

For me, La Bionda really stood out for the gorgeous design, the super personalized service, and just how thoughtful everything felt from start to finish.

The location right in the center of Begur is so convenient, and the free breakfast was delicious and locally sourced.

I’m also still not over that copper bathtub! I’m pretty much obsessed and would 100% recommend booking the Valentina room if you can.

The only real downsides are that there’s no pool or full on-site restaurant, but that’s kind of the point with a boutique bed and breakfast like this.

One thing I would say is that having a rental car makes exploring the nearby beaches and coves a lot easier. I didn’t have a car and felt a bit limited.

But overall, if you’re into design-focused boutique hotels and want something that feels a little more special than a typical stay, I definitely think La Bionda is worth it.
