Honest Palacio Gran Vía Granada Review: Is It Worth It?

Palacio Gran Via Granada Review
Splendidly Spain Disclosure

Thinking about staying at Palacio Gran Vía in Granada Spain and wondering if it’s worth it? You’re in the right place!

I live in Spain and recently stayed at this luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Granada’s historic center.

Set inside a beautifully restored 1905 building that was once a bank, it combines historic character with modern comforts.

In this honest Palacio Gran Vía Granada review, I’ll share my full experience, including what I loved, what I didn’t, and whether I’d recommend it for your stay.

Is Palacio Gran Vía Granada Worth It?

Yes, I think Palacio Gran Vía Granada is absolutely worth it if you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Granada, Spain.

It’s the kind of boutique property I love most in Spain: a historic building with original details, updated with modern design and thoughtful service.

And as part of the Royal Hideaway Hotels & Resorts collection (Barceló’s luxury brand), it delivers the kind of elevated experience you’d expect from a five-star property.

My room was elegant yet high-tech, the staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and the location couldn’t have been better for exploring the city.

The only real downsides were that the standard rooms are a bit small, and the rooftop, while beautiful, felt a little empty during my visit.

Still, for me, the pros far outweigh the cons, and I’d definitely stay here again.

Palacio Gran Vía Granada Review: Location

The hotel is located right on Calle Gran Vía de Colón, one of Granada’s main streets, just steps from the Granada Cathedral.

This is one of the best areas to stay in Granada, since you are right in the historic center where the city is most walkable.

And the best part is that it’s at the base of the hill so it’s flat and much easier to walk around than some of Granada’s other neighborhoods like Albaicín or Sacromonte.

Restaurants, tapas bars, and shops are just around the corner, and you can get to most major Granada attractions on foot.

The Albaicín neighborhood is also within walking distance, making the location great for sightseeing without needing a car.

I also felt completely safe walking back to the hotel in the evenings.

Nearby Attractions

Palacio Gran Vía Granada is within walking distance of:

  • Granada Cathedral (2-minute walk)
  • Royal Chapel of Granada (2-minute walk)
  • Plaza Nueva (3-minute walk)
  • Albaicín neighborhood (10-minute walk)
  • Mirador de San Nicolás (16-minute walk)
  • Sacromonte neighborhood (20-minute walk)
  • Alhambra (30-minute walk uphill, or €5-6 taxi)

Can you walk to the Alhambra from the hotel?

It’s technically possible to walk to the Alhambra from the hotel, but the hill is very steep and would take about 30 minutes uphill, so I’d recommend taking a quick taxi instead.

The staff at the front desk arranged one for me, and the ride was only 5 or 6€. From there, it’s easy to walk down and back into the city.

Palacio Gran Vía Granada Review: Rooms

Here’s an overview of the guestroom and bathroom at Palacio Gran Vía Granada:

Guestroom

I stayed in a Deluxe Plus room, which had the perfect balance between historic charm and modern technology.

The room featured a king-sized bed with plush bedding, a desk, minibar, espresso machine, and flat-screen TV.

It also had a smart touchpad that controlled the lighting and temperature, which took a little bit of practice at first!

I also loved the pillow menu, which was such a thoughtful touch! I ordered a pillow designed for side sleepers, and had a great night’s sleep.

My room also had a small balcony overlooking the street, but I didn’t experience any noise at night.

The only downside is that the standard rooms here are on the smaller side, which might feel a bit tight for two people.  But there are larger room categories available if you want more space.

Bathroom

The bathroom was one of the best parts of the room.

It had a large freestanding soaking tub, a vanity with good lighting, bathrobes, slippers, and even a high-tech toilet with a remote control.

There was also a walk-in rain shower, which had a hand-held attachment if you don’t want to get your hair wet.

I really loved the bathtub and always looked forward to that at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

Palacio Gran Vía Granada Review: Dining

Here’s a breakdown of the restaurant and dining options available at Palacio Gran Vía:

El Patio Restaurant

The hotel’s main restaurant, El Patio, is stunning, with a large skylight and elegant design details.

I had breakfast here, which isn’t included in the room rate but can be added at check-in for a better price.

The buffet had a wide selection of pastries, fruit, and cold options, plus there was an à la carte menu with hot dishes like eggs, pancakes, and French toast.

Drinks were also included like smoothies, juices, coffee, and more.

Miralba Rooftop Bar

The Miralba Rooftop Bar is definitely one of the highlights of Palacio Gran Vía. From here, you get sweeping views of the city skyline and the Alhambra in the distance.

There are tables for drinks as well as lounge beds that are perfect for laying out in the warmer months.

During my visit, the rooftop was pretty empty, so it didn’t have as much of a vibe as I expected.  But I imagine it gets busier when the hotel is more full.

La Sucursal Grand Café

La Sucursal Grand Café is located in the lobby and is great if you want something lighter or more casual.

You can stop by for a coffee in the morning, afternoon tea, or even a glass of wine in the evening if you don’t feel like heading out.

I thought it was a nice option, especially since the restaurant isn’t always open outside of breakfast hours.

Palacio Gran Vía Granada Review: Amenities

Here’s a breakdown of the amenities at Palacio Gran Vía Granada:

Spa & Hammam

One of the standout features of this hotel is the spa located in the basement.

It has a hamman with a Turkish bath-style heated pool and sauna, which are free for hotel guests to use.

And if you want even more relaxation, you can also book treatments such as massages for an additional fee.

I think this spa really sets Palacio Gran Vía apart from many other luxury hotels in Granada that don’t offer such a complete wellness area.

Gym

The gym here is larger than most hotel gyms I’ve seen in Spain and has a good mix of cardio machines, weight equipment, and free weights.

It felt modern and clean, with enough equipment to get in a full workout rather than just a quick session.

For me, this was a big plus, since many Spanish hotels only have very basic gyms with minimal equipment.

Palacio Gran Vía Granada Review: Service

The service at Palacio Gran Vía was one of the highlights of my stay.

From the moment I arrived, staff were attentive and friendly, which made check-in smooth and welcoming.

They personally escorted me to my room and explained all the details, including how the smart touchpad worked.

Throughout my stay, they were always available for questions and quick to arrange things like taxis to the Alhambra and the airport.

Along with nightly turndown service with chocolates on the pillow, I also appreciated the small personal touches.

I received a handwritten welcome note with cookies when I checked in, and before leaving, they gave me a farewell gift that included local olive oil and small vials of essential oils that I had selected at check-in.

Palacio Gran Vía Granada Review: Value

Palacio Gran Vía is definitely priced at the higher end for Granada, but I think the value is strong for what you get.

The hotel combines the charm of a restored historic building with modern comforts, has excellent service, and includes access to a beautiful rooftop, as well as a full spa and wellness area.

The location is also one of the best in the city, making it easy to explore without needing a car.

While the standard rooms may feel small, upgrading to a larger category solves that issue.

Considering all of this, I think it’s one of the best luxury hotels in Granada if you want a stay that feels both authentic and upscale.
