What to Wear in Barcelona in February

When planning how to dress in Barcelona in February, I’d recommend packing layers since mornings and evenings can get pretty chilly.

Sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, jeans, and a warm jacket or coat are all good options. I usually wear a long wool coat all winter in Barcelona.

I’d also bring a scarf, hat, and gloves just in case, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time outside.

For shoes, comfortable sneakers or boots are your best bet since you’ll likely be doing a lot of walking around the city.

What to Pack for Barcelona in February

Here’s a quick list of essentials to add to your Spain packing list for your Barcelona February trip:

  • Winter Coat: Bring along a moderately warm winter coat to stay warm during chilly mornings and evenings. I have a long wool coat that’s been warm enough for me even on colder days.

  • Warm Layers: Pack a variety of sweaters and long-sleeved tops to stay comfortable throughout the day as the temperatures fluctuate.

  • Scarf, Hat, & Gloves: A scarf, hat, and gloves may not be necessary but I’d pack them just in case of cold temperatures.

  • Closed-Toed Shoes: You’ll likely be doing a lot of walking so comfortable closed-toe walking shoes are an absolute must for exploring the city without getting cold.

  • Anti-Theft Bag: While Barcelona is generally very safe, pickpocketing is unfortunately pretty common. You’ll definitely want to bring an anti-theft bag like a belt bag or crossbody purse with secure zippers to keep your belongings safe.

  • Phone Leash: In addition to an anti-theft bag, I wouldn’t come to Barcelona without a phone leash to secure your phone. Phones are easily stolen out of your hands or if you leave them on a restaurant table or in your pocket.

  • Umbrella: February is the driest month in Barcelona, but I’d still recommend bringing along a compact travel umbrella just in case.

  • Travel Adapter: Don’t forget your travel adapter if you’re coming from the US or a country that uses different plugs!

  • Portable Charger: Exploring the city can quickly drain your phone battery, so having a portable charger on hand is always a good idea.
